The pharaoh, Ramses, proclaimed his greatness by placing four colossal images of himself on the temple’s façade. The rock-cut statues lack the refinement and detail of earlier periods, because much was sacrificed due to the overwhelming size.

I chose this piece because I think it would be magnificent to stand in front of this piece of architecture. It looks insanely massive and it is crazy to believe that they could accomplish a feat such as this.
