The Temple of Athena Parthenos (The Parthenon)

This magnificent piece of architecture was dedicated to the goddess Athena. The structure was made from limestone, with the columns made of pentelic marble. The temple is of the Doric Order with 8 columns at the façade and 17 at the flanks. This temple was built to be the focus of the Acropolis building complex.

I chose this piece of architecture because it is the embodiment of classical Greece. I also chose this piece to always remember the difference between the Parthenon and the Pantheon.
