  • This is a Theotokos, in other words, a Byzantine representation of mother and child which represents the virgin Mary and Jesus

  • I chose this piece because it is a good example of a Theotokos, as well as other classical characteristics of Byzantine art. Including: Frontal view, Flat dimensions, Floating appearance, and lots of Gold.
